Who We Are

We are Indivisible Champlain Islands — a group of neighbors in the Champlain Islands of northwestern Vermont. We are farmers and retirees, teachers and business owners, lifelong islanders, and people who chose to make this place home.

Federal decisions are making life harder here — for our businesses, our farms, our schools, our seniors, and our neighbors who are struggling. We have organized to fight for the Democratic principles on which our country was founded. Meanwhile, we push back against the bad and illegal policy decisions that are affecting our lives and the future of our children and grandchildren. Always through every peaceful and democratic means available to us.

While we push, we take care of each other. We have joined thousands of Indivisible groups across the country who share this conviction: that this is a time for courage and collective action, and that each of us — whatever we can offer — has a role to play.

Mission

To connect Champlain Islands neighbors with the events, tools, and resources they need to protect our Democracy — by holding our elected officials accountable, resisting policies that harm everyday life here, and caring for those among us who need support right now. Always through nonviolent means.

Values

Always nonviolent. Community; inclusive; determined.

Vision

A Champlain Islands where young people can afford to stay, farms and businesses can thrive, every neighbor has enough, and the democratic principles that protect all of this are strong enough to hold.

Highlights of Our First Year

A dedicated woman built an activist organization from scratch in a remote island county of 7,500 people — many seasonal, most retirement age, with limited resources — during one of the most politically challenging periods in recent memory. That is remarkable.

Since our founding in March 2025, protests have happened–No Kings 2, No Kings 3, roadside Honk & Waves, ICE and Migrant defense protests, Respect Veterans protests. Meetings have taken place with our Federal representatives and State officials to engage them with our work. Our work has been featured on TV. We built a local team that is making a difference. Our organization exists, it thrives. That’s the first year.
