Who We Are

We are Indivisible Champlain Islands, a non-partisan group of citizens in northwestern Vermont’s Grand Isle County.  We’re one of thousands of Indivisible groups across the country taking action to build grassroots power to save democracy and defeat authoritarianism.  We are no longer Democrats, Republicans or Independents.  We are united as neighbors, concerned about our shared future, for our children, our community and our country.  And we are united as patriots who believe that this is a time for courage and collective action.  Each of us has a role to play in this rapidly growing national movement.

Mission

Indivisible Champlain Islands is a northwestern Vermont grassroots organization that is inclusive for all and aims to protect our democracy peacefully. We embrace common values to create meaningful change in our lives and oppose the unlawful and corrupt actions of the Trump agenda. We stand firm to assure that our elected officials are accountable and publicly support these values. We coordinate with Indivisible’s national organization to motivate, provide resources and events that inspire our community members to achieve our mutual goals.

Values & Vision

Always nonviolent. Community; inclusive; determined.

A Champlain Islands where young people can afford to stay, farms and businesses can thrive, every neighbor has enough, and the democratic principles that protect all of this are strong enough to hold.

Highlights of Our First Year

A dedicated woman built an activist organization from scratch in a remote islands county of 7,500 people — many seasonal, most retirement age, with limited resources — during one of the most politically challenging periods in recent memory. That is remarkable.

Our Gallery of Activities

Since our founding in March 2025, protests have happened — No Kings 2, No Kings 3, roadside Honk & Waves, ICE and Migrant defense protests, Respect Veterans protests. Meetings have taken place with our Federal representatives and State officials to engage them with our work. Our work has been featured on TV. We built a local team that is making a difference. Our organization exists, it thrives. That’s the first year.
