4/21/26. Focus; Primaries; Postcarding; Phoning; Voting Rights

Hello Indivisibles,

Attached below you can find the latest edition of the Vermont Indivisible Newsletter.  See what other Vermont Indivisible groups are doing.  Check out what actions you want to take and what campaigns you want to support.  Keep in mind, this is an AI generated summary of newsletters from groups all over Vermont.  Our group may not be focusing on the same things and you may not be in support of everything.  But it is so valuable to see what is going on.

FOCUS;

Part of the strategy of this increasingly evil regime is to flood our world with so much chaos and carnage, in so many areas, that we won’t be able to focus long enough to mount a resistance that can actually throw sand in the gears and put a stop to them.

We discussed this at our Leadership Team meeting yesterday.  We agreed that everything eventually depends on us ending the strangle-hold this Administration has on Congress in the midterms.  There will be several things we can do to impact this directly:  protect a citizen’s right to  vote, educate voters, get-out the vote, protect polling places, protect the mail-in ballot, etc. Both in our own state and in other states.  We will be working hard to offer you opportunities to take action on these fronts.

Right now we are in the midst of Primary season.  Every state has a different timeline and rules for their primaries.  As those races occur, and the slate for the midterms is set, things will really kick into high gear.  But before then, we have to thwart all of the actions that the Administration is trying to use to suppress the vote and skew the vote.  As they have said, “we only want the people we want to get a vote”.  NOPE.  Not how it works in the US.  Every citizen is entitled to have a vote and for their vote to count.  And we aim to make sure that works as it should.  There are a lot of organizations out there right now doing the work to prevent the subversion of our elections.  We will be finding ways to support them.

One thing that is launching right now is continuing to build our postcard campaign team.  This will be a direct “get-out-the-vote” effort.  We already have 68 active folks working on this team and they can always use more help.  The best part is that you can do as much as you can, whether that is writing 10 postcards, or 100, or more.  Here is the latest message from the leader of that team, Doug:

Postcard Warriors-Several of you sent emails wanting to know when the Midterm Campaigns begin and also requested postcards. I received this message from Postcards to Swing States last Thursday.“We’ll begin sign-ups on April 28 for our Get Out the Vote postcards for the November 2026 midterm elections. Our initial states include Alaska, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. We’ll start sign-ups for competitive US House races  in June. All the mailing dates for these programs are in October.”

We already have requests for 550 cards before the campaigns start which is great!

Thanks-Doug

Contact Doug at dougkiser2199@gmail to join this team and receive his emails, sign up for your postcards, and get onboard for the midterms.

We also want to start a phone bank team to be ready to reach out to voters in Swing States.  If you have interest in this, please “reply” to this email.

Much of the work to protect the integrity and security of the vote is happening in the courts and in the Congress.  We can support the actions in court by financially supporting the organizations that are doing the work (like the ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center, which was just attacked by the Administration, League of Women Voters, and many, many more).  I don’t have a list right now, but I will try to vet some organizations and get one out to you.

We can support the efforts in Congress to protect voting rights.  This fight will change rapidly as the attacks by the Administration change.  We will try to stay on top of this and encourage you to let your MOC know what you want them to support and how you expect them to vote.  It is equally as important for our minority MOC to be talking behind the scenes to their counterparts who are supporting this regime and make clear to them the consequences of not protecting the rights of the citizens who elected them.  We may need to change a few GOP votes before the midterms.  This is a fight we can win.  The GOP is well aware of the swing in voter sentiment evident in the 30+ special elections in the past year at both the federal and state level in which the Dem party has substantially over-performed compared to 2024.  There has not been a single case where the GOP improved their margin compared to 2024.  And that was before this wildly unpopular war.

But, even as we focus more and more on the midterms, we will not stop fighting to protect and support our neighbors and all those being attacked by this regime.  Locally, our next project will be another Food Drive to support the Grand Isle Food Shelf on Saturday, May 9th.  They are seeing an increased demand as the increased gas prices, health care cuts, and the effects of the long, cold winter, take a toll on working families, disabled folks, and others who are finding it impossible to make ends meet right now.  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE DAY OF THE FOOD DRIVE FROM 11:00 TO 1:00.  PLEASE EMAIL ANDREA AT:    to sign up.  And Thank you!!!

Will will continue with other actions to build our strength as a movement, to educate our members, to support our community and to resist in every way we can the destructive actions of this Administration.  The cruelty of ICE, the Corruption that is robbing Americans, the attempt to take over and destroy our Democracy, and this senseless, expensive war, we will continue to resist it all.

I take heart every day in the knowledge that you are there to support the efforts of our group.

Together we have power.

Thank you,

Marilyn Lagrow
