Hello Indivisibles: Attached is our latest Newsletter of July 2 2026 Final.pdf Indivisible Champlain Islands Newsletter. Find info on our upcoming events, as well as actions with other nearby Indivisible groups that might interest you. Yes, our Friday Defend Democracy Honk & Wave is in South Hero tomorrow. It will be hot, so wear a hat, sunscreen and bring water. Here is a message from the leaders of this action, Berney and John:
Friday, July 3rd Honk and Wave
This H&W is an important one, friends. People will be “pouring” onto our Champlain Islands. We must show them how committed we are to pushing back against the current administration. They are destroying our Democracy. They are mocking and tearing down our Constitution. They are making puppets out of our Supreme Court. They are terrifying and rounding up people of color, as well as people who “look different’, people who “speak out” and most sadly, people who are looking for a safe haven, an opportunity to work and
raise a family. So once again, join us in South Hero on the sidewalk between the Worthen Library and the Two Heroes Brewery. Bring signs, bring music, bring noisemakers and bring your strength. —Berney And John
Thanks to Berney and John, this ‘every Friday’ protest has survived every kind of weather and continues to make an impact both here and across the country. Especially in the summer, people from all over travel this route to take the Ferry, as well as to come to our beautiful Islands. Last Friday, some people from Wisconsin, who were ‘passing through’, actually stopped and joined in the protest. People who pass by, see it and are starting to realize the importance of our message. And they are seeing similar protests everywhere they go. Last weekend, my daughter traveled to Boston and saw at least 4 banners hanging over the Interstate, with people protesting above them. Someone else I know traveled from New Hampshire to the Islands the same weekend and saw multiple protests in villages and towns along the way. We are not alone. We are part of an enormous movement that grows stronger every day. We must keep spreading the message. We must keep the pressure on this corrupt regime. We must not falter. When you can, please join us on Friday afternoons.
And join us to make a big showing at the South Hero Parade
We have 250 years of freedom and democracy to celebrate!!! And we have work to do to ensure that our democracy endures for another 250+ years.
At the Parade, we will have brochures for you to hand out about Indivisible Champlain Islands, and the work that we do, and how people can join and help us. We hope that our members marching in the Parade, will stop and talk with people who want to know more about us. And, we hope to have a huge birthday card for America, for people in the crowd to sign and leave a birthday message. It is going to be a blast! The weather will be a bit cooler. Come march with us! Bring your friends, kids, dogs and a big smile. Details in the newsletter attached.
Help Reach Out to Our Canadian Friends
Again this summer, we would like to find ways to reach out to our Canadian neighbors and friends and let them know that the despicable actions of this Administration toward Canada are NOT, I repeat, NOT, how we think Canada should be treated. We welcome our Canadian visitors. We are forming a small group to help organize and implement actions to show Canadians that they are welcome. CAN YOU HELP? This is not expected to be a heavy lift. But we do need a few people to help us. Do you have neighbors who are Canadians? Are you a Canadian, yourself? Would you be willing to pass out some flags for a “Dual Flag, US/Canada” campaign? Should we do another social event for our Canadian friends? Please respond to this email if you can lend a hand.
Thank you for all that you are doing. Stay cool. Take care of yourself and take care of each other.
Cheers, Marilyn Lagrow
