I am so excited! The next huge NO KINGS nationwide mobilization is Oct. 17th!! Over 2300 events are already scheduled nationwide (and a few internationally) and we expect hundreds more to register in the next week or two. The events are taking lots of different forms: Block parties, city wide rallies, voting drop box parties, marches, etc. But they all have one thing in common. They are all designed to encourage every voter to GET OUT AND VOTE! AND VOTE EARLY!!
Indivisible Champlain Islands will be joining with a big sidewalk rally and an indoor VoteFest!
The sign waving rally will kick off at 2:30 on the sidewalks near the Worthen Library. The doors to the VoteFest will open at 3:00 in the downstairs room at the Library. There we will have all things voting:
— Voter Information table with local town clerks to answer questions
— Voter Registration
— Voting Trivia
— Post care, Phone Bank, Canvassing information and sign-up table
— Election Threats and Protection information
Plus Refreshments! Cider and cider donuts, anyone?
Make your plans to join in the fun, celebrate your precious right to vote, and help drive the largest voter turn-out in the history of the Midterms! Make some signs to encourage voting early or to protecting the vote! Or use some of ours. Learn about all the things you didn’t know about voting, and create the atmosphere to change the direction of the country.
This election is our only chance to flip the House and the Senate and rein in the destructive power of the Trump Administration. It will be a long two years before we get another chance … and by then, we might not have another chance. So we welcome you to come out on Oct. 17th for NO KINGS: Vote Early. Make your voice heard and learn how you can make a difference!
(Note: This is NOT a candidate campaign event. Local candidates are not allowed to campaign at this event.)
AND DON’T FORGET TODAY’S DEFEND DEMOCRACY FRIDAY PROTEST from 4:00 to 5:00 on the sidewalk near the Worthen Library in South Hero. There will be a lot of foliage traffic, in addition to the commuter traffic, so it is a great opportunity to be visible and send the message that we demand an end to this undemocratic regime! America will never accept a KIng.
POLL OBSERVERS update: We have about half of the volunteers that we need to have poll observers at every polling station in the Islands on Nov. 3rd. Shifts are two hours long. You will be outside the polling station. Your job will be to watch for any disruption to the election (voter intimidation, etc.), report it, and to film it with your phone. Observers will be in groups of two.
Please sign up if you can spend 2 hours at the polls on Nov. 3, and ask a friend to join you. We especially need people who can be flexible enough to be an observer in whichever town needs a pair for a particular shift. Sign up at if you can help out.
REMEMBER TO VOTE!
