Hello Indivisibles,
Attachments: VT Indivisible Digest Newsletter
Wow! There was a great turnout for the Save Democracy protest yesterday at the intersection of Ferry Rd and US Rt 2 in South Hero. Some 40 Indivisibles turned out to protest against this authoritarian take-over attempt. We plan to hold these protests every Friday from 4:00 to 5:00, at least through March. Let us know what you think. If you were there, if you wanted to be there but couldn’t make it, we would love to hear your reaction, comments, suggestions. And send us a picture if you took one!
THE WAR
It has been a dark week with the start of another war, now involving at least a dozen countries, with an uncertain trajectory. It is not getting a positive reaction from the People. We will be working hard to bring it to a halt. Last week, both the Senate and the House failed to pass the War Resolutions Act by narrow margins. This would have forced the President to come to Congress in order to wage his war. One Democrat in the Senate (Fetterman) and four Democrats in the House voted against the measure. There were lots of conflicted feelings among those who voted against it. But fear not. We will force the measure to be voted on yet again. This time the Pres. is talking about putting US troops in Iran and making demands beyond the stated goals which were in place at the time of the last vote. We will keep the pressure up and we will rein in the President’s unlimited power to wage a war that the American people do not want.
SUCCESSES
But there have been many important successes this past week, as well. And pressure from voters and pressure from protesters have helped make them happen. Here are just a couple:
– Kristie Noam has been sent back to the gravel pit to face the ghost of her dead puppy. She will be held accountable for other deaths eventually.
– More Democrats turned out to vote in the primaries in Texas than Republicans. In Texas!
– The Tariffs were deemed to be illegal by the Supreme Court. Then the lower court told the Administration they had to give back the $$$Billions of dollars they took from Americans and US businesses in the form of these illegal taxes.
– The DOJ released some of the missing interviews with the woman who accused DJT of sexually abusing her when she was between 13-15 years old.
– Some of the corruption is finally being put in the spotlight: like the $$$220 Million dollar advertising campaign starring Kristie Noam so she could increase her name recognition for her Presidential campaign. Or the $$$70 Million dollar luxury plane she bought for her and her boyfriend to fly around in. All with US taxpayer money.
– Just about everyone hates this war.
NO KINGS 3
Planning is now well underway for our NO KINGS 3 event on Saturday, March 28 from 12:45 to 2:00 atthe Sandbar State Park. Then at 2:00, we will proceed to the big No Kings 3 rally in St. Albans that starts at 3:00. There they will have speakers, music, art and more.
WE NEED SOME HELP AT THIS EVENT. IT IS TIME TO SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER AT THE EVENT AT THE SANDBAR. If you can help with signing up new members, or help with traffic/parking, or help with set-up/clean-up, or are willing to be a Safety Marshal, we need you!! This will be a big event and organization is key to make it a success. Volunteers need to be able to come at least a half hour early and be willing to stay a few minutes after. Please let Andrea know at AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
It’s time to plan your signs, find those bells and think who else would like to join you. This is our chance to invite new people to join our movement!! Welcoming new people is one of the most important parts of the day.
At our last event, our wonderful sign-making team made a series of sequential signs on the theme “This is Fascism”. If you have one of those signs can you please let me know? We will need them again on March 28.
I have attached the most recent Vermont Indivisible Digest Newsletter.
Please pay special attention to the ‘Successes’ section. Yes, we do make a difference.
And also read carefully the section on the Vt Legislature actions. This week is critical for bills to pass from one side of the Legislature to the other, if they are to have a chance to pass this year. There are several important bills regarding ICE, voter protection and more. Please find some time to contact the relevant committee or your own legislators to urge passage of the bills that you support and think are important. Timing is crucial. Put it on your calendar for Monday, if possible.
Thanks to all of you who do so much to support our movement. You bring me great joy and hope!
