VERMONT PRIMARY ELECTIONS ARE TUESDAY – AUGUST 11. Have you voted yet? If not, now’s the time to Make a Plan. DID YOU KNOW:
Do you know someone who isn’t registered to vote yet? No problem –register online (https://sos.vermont.gov/elections/voters/registration) or go to your Town Clerk’s office and register Monday! No time to register before election day? No problem, register the same day as voting at your polling place. (Note: photo ID required for first time voters).
There is usually much lower voter turn-out in Primary elections. So, each vote is even more important. Your voice will only be heard if you vote. And bring a friend! Can you think of someone who might need a ride to the polls on Tuesday? Give them a call.
There are some important and exciting races happening in this primary.
- Picking a candidate to run for Governor
- Picking a candidate to run for Governor
- Picking a candidate to run for Lt. Governor
- Picking a Sheriff for Grand Isle County
- etc.
(The Sheriff’s race is particularly interesting because both candidates are Democrats, and no one is running as a Republican or Progressive. So whoever wins on Tuesday, will probably be the Sheriff for the next four years, as there won’t be anyone else on the ballot in November. Unless someone runs as an Independent.) The sheriff has no real oversight and cannot be fired, so choose wisely. The candidates are very different, and offer a real choice for Grand Isle County for the first time in ages.
VERMONT INDIVISIBLE DIGEST is attached below.
Please note that the AI generated Digest says that some Indivisible groups are supporting a particular candidate. Indivisible Champlain Islands is not supporting any particular candidate in the Primaries. Please do your homework. We have given several suggestions to help you find out more about the candidates, in our last Indivisible Champlain Islands Newsletter, as well as on our website, IndivisibleCI.org.
Have a great weekend.
